“The Homo Ludens research group focuses on gaming practices and online communication. We are interested in the social, philosophical, and semiotic aspects of gaming from a communicational perspective.[Link<\/a>]<\/p>

1. The relationship with oneself, i.e. online identities and new forms of subjectivity.<\/p>

2. The relationship to play, i.e. the concept of play, the organisation of signs, and interfaces.<\/p>

The LabLabLab is a FRQSC-funded project led by Jonathan Lessard at Montreal\u2019s Concordia University. Its purpose is to explore new avenues for conversations with non-playing-characters (NPC) in digital games. It operates within the Technoculture, Art and Games research center. Its main output is games experimenting with new technologies and designs for NPC conversations and research papers documenting the process and results. “Profil Ludique is a French-language academic podcast whose mission is to provide a detailed portrait of an emerging and controversial video game genre: the walking simulator. Each episode explores a unique issue through analyses of iconic walking simulators, drawing on scientific texts from video game and film studies, literary theory, art history, and philosophy.<\/p>

The space for reflection provided by this podcast is structured around two objectives. On the one hand, to analyse in depth the aesthetic and experiential characteristics that define this new genre.
