Call for proposals for a themed exhibition at LUDOV – 2026 Game History Annual Symposium (SAHJ)
Call for proposals for a themed exhibition at LUDOV – 2026 Game History Annual Symposium (SAHJ)
Dear all,
Building on the success of the last year’s exhibition we held in December 2025 (https://www.sahj.ca/en/2025-2/), which centered around sci-fi video games, we (Kevser, Jean-Charles, Francis, and Carl) would like to repeat the same formula this year and invite you to submit your exhibition ideas. Like last year, this event will be a place for academic exchange but in a more casual, less formal way. However, this time around, we want YOUR theme and ideas to shape this year’s exhibition! The goal is to showcase the LUDOV game collection and, by the same means, bring light to the incredible diversity of research interests within our game studies community.
The event will be held at Université de Montréal on December 7 and 8. We recommend keeping last year’s casual format (short presentations, video capsules, roundtables) to allow the participants to discover the games that the organizers and participants will be selecting from the lab’s collection. We have preemptively reserved an extra room (C-3061) for the discussions and lunch times, and a budget for the food. The only thing missing is your theme ideas!
This call is open to everybody. Students, independent researchers, lecturers and professors in game studies, affiliated to Université de Montréal or not, are all welcome to submit their proposals. Please, send your (individual or group) proposal in PDF format to Kevser Güngör for May 8, 2026 at the latest. Your proposal must include:
- a presentation of the subject/theme for the exhibition (300-400 words),
- an overview of the games you would like to showcase at LUDOV, chosen from the catalogue (https://ludov.inlibro.net/),
- a short academic biography (for group proposals, include one for each member).
The outcome will be announced at the end of May. Please, contact us if you have any questions.
The SAHJ executive committee
